What I do

I'm currently studying Software Engineering at the University of Melbourne, and in my spare time I like to make games.

Up until recently I was working with Subsoap to create casual games. I have since registered the trading name Jigxor, a name under which I will be releasing future games.

I'm currently working on a game to be released on Steam.

Games

Here are the finished  games that I've created over the years. They are all for Windows PC.

Faerie Solitaire (2009)

Faerie Solitaire is a casual card game set in the world of Avalon. The game contains an adventure mode which has the player following a boy through this world, saving faeries along the way.

I programmed and helped design this game in a duo of two, along with Brian of Subsoap. The game was Subsoap's first commercial release, published on many casual game portals including Big Fish Games, where it reached number 4 on their top 100 games and still remains high in their card games category.

Faerie Solitaire has been reviewed on the Australian television program Good Game, broadcasted on the ABC.

The game is available on Subsoap's website as well as on Steam, with an iPhone version also coming soon.

ZDay20 (2010)

ZDay20 is a zombie-themed (it's still cool!) action top-down shooter. There are two levels in which zombies come from all sides and try to overwhelm the player. Using Box2D physics, you're able to defend yourself by blocking off doors to avoid the hoard.

I made this game in about 5 days for Gamebuilder's "20 Event Competition", in which participants must make their game with a Clickteam Product in 20 lines of code. The game won first prize amongst 40 other entries. Jess Bowers created the main graphics and I did all of the programming.

There are many more features that could make this a better game, but the constraint of the 20 events made it difficult to implement everything I wanted to.

Dungeon Dash (2011)

This was my second entry to Gamebuilder's 20 Event Competition, again with Jess Bowers doing all of the graphics and myself doing all of the coding. We won first prize again.

The game plays like a fast-paced, yet still turned-based roguelike. There are many items to collect which increase your character's stats, as well as more fearsome monsters the deeper you delve into the dungeon.

We created the game under the pseudonym "JABS" (Jess [Andrew] Bowers [Sum]) to avoid any positive or negative bias from the judges.

Like ZDay20, the constraints of the competition made it hard to implement everything to make it a more polished game. I am interested in developing a game similar to this in the future, but with more depth.

Stray Whisker (2011)

Stray Whisker is a game about a kitten left alone. It was made in 48 hours for the 22nd Ludum Dare competition where it came 5th overall out of 717 games.

I tried to make a game that would allow the player to simply enjoy playing as a cat, running and jumping around.

Music

I somtimes create electro-house music under the pseudonym of Disk Cord. Although I enjoy creating songs from scratch and remixing other's work, I have only had one major song release:

Foals - Electric Bloom (Disk Cord Remix)
It was featured on blogs, here are a few: [1] [2] [3]

You can find all of my stuff worth listening to here, including many unreleased and unfinished projects. Most of this work is from 2008, and recently I have not been actively making any music that I am completely happy with.
